Beneficiary

Copay (Copayment)

A flat dollar amount you pay when you receive certain healthcare services, such as a doctor visit or prescription.

Deductible

The amount you pay out of pocket for healthcare before your insurance starts to share costs.

Deductible (Embedded)

An embedded deductible means that each individual on a family plan has their own separate deductible. Once one person meets their individual deductible, the insurance starts covering their costs—even if the full family deductible hasn’t been met yet.

Deductible (Non-Embedded)

A non-embedded deductible (sometimes called aggregate) means there is only one deductible for the whole family. The insurance does not start covering costs for anyone until the entire family deductible is met.
